Embrace the Bareface

"Makeup is not a tool meant to make an ugly thing beautiful, it is meant only to MAGNIFY the beauty that already exist !"

-Unknown-

So after all that makeup talk I thought I was time to embrace the bareface.
Today I am going to share with you my skin care routine and give you tips that have helped me along the way.
The most important thing before putting your skin care routine together, is getting to know what type of skin you have. Knowing your skin type is absolutely necessary in order to make a right decision about proper skin care or treatment, which is suitable for your particular skin needs.
The initial quality, or type, of your skin is genetically determined - meaning you are born with it. However, the health and beauty of your skin later in life largely 'depends' on what you eat and how you take care of yourself.
Generally, we can single out five basic skin types: normal, dry, oily, combination and sensitive, with each having particular characteristics and requiring specific care and/of treatment.
I have an oily skin so all the products I use are oil free.
Because I have oily skin I am very strict with my skincare routine.
I exfoliate two times a week with the ocean salt scrub from Lush cosmetics.
I really love this scrub for my face (and body).
The ocean salt scrub contains a combination of coarse and fine sea salt.
The minerals in sea salt softens as it scrubs away dirt, dead cells and blockages for a bright fresh face.
This scrub also contains fresh avocado and coconut butter to hydrate thirsty skin, leaving it balanced and soft.
The cleansing effect of lime and vodka are ideal for blocked pores, blackheads or blemish and leave skin visibly brightened.
The ocean salt scrub is beneficial for combination to dull and oily skin.
If you have sensitive, dry or normal skin I wouldn't recommend using harsh scrubs on your face. Besides exfoliating twice a week, I wash at night to remove makeup which can clog pores.
Here are some benefits of washing your face at night;

  • Touching our face all day long, without intentionally doing so, is making your face one of the dirtiest parts on your body. It’s important to clean the skin to avoid the spread of acne bacteria that can cause increased blemishes.
  • Cleansing your skin at night will reduce oil and the ability for acne-causing bacteria to thrive inside the pores. This means less break outs!
  • Your skin repairs itself at night, so removing makeup gives your skin a clean palette for applying your night time performance products for maximum absorption.
  • While you sleep, your skin is at rest allowing regeneration to occur.
  • Moisturizers evaporate when on the skin all day, so washing your skin and applying moisturizer at night ensures it will stay moist and hydrated.

Skin Tip: Too tired to wash your skin at night? Perform your nighttime skin routine at 7:00 or 8:00. Earlier is better than never!
I also wash my face in the morning. Why I also wash my face in morning ?? Overnight the skin recovers. Which means in the morning you have more dead cells to slough off. So washing your face in the morning gives your skin just that little bit extra cleansing.

For my cleansing routine I use the following products. A friend introduced me to the Clinique Anti Blemish solutions. I now swear by these products. They are a 100% allergy tested and fragrance free. Since I am using the Clinique products my skin improved soooo much. I hardly have break-outs or blemishes anymore. After I do my daily cleansing routine with the Clinique products my skin feels solo clean ! There is no better way to describe it !

First I wash my face with the wash away gel cleanser. This is a soothing, cooling, concentrated gel-foam cleanser for oily skin. Fast, easy take-off for clinging makeups.
I use the wash away gel at night and then I follow my 3 step anti blemish routine. The wash away gel only helps with taking my make up off! So after that I still have to cleanse my face.
For the cleansing part I start with the Anti blemish solutions cleansing foam. This foam immediately starts to help clear and prevent acne or break outs. Removes dirt, excess oil and unclogs pores. I massage the foam gently over my wet skin, avoiding the eye area. I rinse my skin thoroughly and pat it dry.
After that I get ready for my favorite part !! The Anti blemish clarifying lotion, I just love this lotion so much ! It is a medicated formula that exfoliates, reduces excess oil that can lead to breakouts. Unclogs pores and controls excess shine. And that is ALL I ask for !!
To finish off my routine I use the Anti blemish clearing moisturiser. This is a light, medicinal formula that helps treat existing blemishes and prevent future blockages. It also creates a barrier against substances that can cause break-outs (pimples). This clearing moisturiser also helps to keep the excess sebum under control. Calms, soothes, reduces visible redness. Last but certainly not least, it gives a light hydration to prevent dry skin.

I hope this post helped some of you with combination to oily skin ! If you are not sure which products to use on you skin, please ask you nearest beauty consultant or esthetician for advice.
